Sujet : Monday, Jan. 9th: RALLY FOR EDUCATION!
SVP diffusez!
$4 billion cut - enough is enough!
Rally for a Reinvestment!
Monday January 9th @ 7:30pm
Maison Radio-Canada
1400 Rene-Levesque East
Corner Panet (near Beaudry Metro)
Over the past 20 years, the federal government has cut annual funding for h=
igher
education by $4 billion, from an historical high of $8 billion. These cuts,=
most
of which were carried out since the mid-nineties, has led to a funding cris=
is
for universities and colleges/CEGEPS across Canada.
The results?
-Rising tuition fees and soaring student debt (meaning less access for
low-income people)
-Crumbling university infrastructures
-Growing classroom sizes
-Growing privatisation of our campuses
The solution?
The federal government has seen record surpluses over the past few years; t=
here
is more than enough money to reinvest in education and ensure there is a
dedicated federal transfer of $8 billion for education every year.
The action?
Next Monday, January 9th, the federal party leaders will be in Montreal for=
the
next televised leadership debate. Come out and make sure they hear our voic=
es
and recognize that education funding is a priority in Canada!
$4 billion cut - ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
