Manifestation pour appuyer l'occupation #6party et condamner la privatisation et corporatisation de l'education

Les revendications du #6party - faire reconnaitre un processus démocratique et avoir une université qui reponds à nos besoins - font partie d'un plus grand mouvement au Québec, au Canada, et dans le monde qui s'oppose à l'imposition d'un modèle corporatiste pour nos institutions publiques, à la vente du bien commun pour le bénéfice privé, et au remplacement de la démocratie par les décisions d'une élite.

Au Quebec, l'administration de McGill a mené la charge pour la privatisation des services universitaires et pour étouffer les voix des étudiant(e)s. Maintenant, l'administration cherche à étendre cette campagne en dehors de ses propres murs, en tentant d'abolir GRIP-McGill et CKUT, deux institutions qui oeuvrent dans la communauté Montréalaise ainsi que sur le campus McGill. C'est avec aucune surprise que nous constatons que ces institutions desservent des populations queer, racisées, migrantes, et autrement marginalisées - qui seront encore plus marginalisées dans la communauté McGill si l'admininistration continue à s'opposer à l'existence de CKUT et du GRIP.

Nous exigeons que l'adminstration de McGill accepte immédiatement les demandes du #6party, et nous nous levons en solidarité pour dire, "la lutte continuera!"

The #6partiers' demands -- for the recognition of democratic student processes and a University that is responsive to our needs -- are part of a broader movement across Quebec, Canada and the world that opposes the adoption of a corporate model for our public institutions, the selling out of the public good to private interest, and the replacement of democratic processes with the decisions of an elite few.

In Quebec, the McGill administration has led the charge for privatising student services, and silencing student dissent. Now, they are extending that impulse outside McGill's walls, by attempting to shut down QPIRG and CKUT, two institutions that serve the broader Montreal community. It is no surprise that the populations served by these organizations include queer people, people of colour, immigrants, and other marginalized groups - popluations who will be further marginalized in the McGill community if McGill's administration continues to oppose the right of QPIRG and CKUT to continued existence.

Enough is Enough!

We ask that the McGill Administration immediately ratify the #6party's demands, and we stand in solidarity to say, "the fight will go on!"
