Perturbons leur salon! Manifestation contre le Plan Nord

En avril dernier, les capitalistes de la Chambre de commerce de Montréal organisaient une grande foire à la destruction des territoires nordiques, le Salon du Plan Nord. Sans beaucoup de style, ils remettent ça cette année, sous le slogan « retrouvez le Salon des ressources naturelles ». Les pilleurs se rassemblent. Commandités en grand par les minières (Osisko) et les pétrolières des sables bitumineux (Enbridge), ils préparent l’assimilation des communautés autochtones dans leur schéma industriel et la destruction des espaces sauvages à grande échelle.
Les femmes InnuEs se sont levées l’année dernière et ont marché plus de 1000 kilomètres de la Côte-Nord à Montréal pour dire non à cette exploitation. Les InnuEs ne sont pas inactivEs depuis : blocages routiers, grèves de la faim, paralysie des chantiers furent fréquents en 2012. Plusieurs groupes autochtones les appuient et sont eux aussi en résistance contre ce plan monstrueux de dévastation du territoire!
Peu importe que l’argent aille dans les coffres de l’État québécois, canadien ou des transnationales, ce développement du nord nous menace en tant que parties du vivant. Alors que les environnementalistes répètent leurs tentatives de développement alternatif, de développement durable, de capitalisme renouvelable, nous brisons les limites du monde qui nous est imposé. Nous voulons interrompre le processus colonisateur et civilisateur qui existe depuis l’arrivée des premiers conquérants européens et qui s’accélère depuis.
En solidarité avec toutes les communautés en résistance au modèle de développement qui leur est imposé, au Nord comme au Sud, avec les peuples autochtones qui ont choisi de s’y opposer, des InnuEs du Nitassinan, aux opposantEs CriEs ainsi qu’à toutes/tous les membres en combat des autres nations. Avec eux/elles, pour notre terre, nous serons dans la rue pour perturber leur salon le 8 février!

Last April, the capitalists of the Montreal Chamber of Commerce organized a grand exhibition of the destruction of northern territories, the Forum on the Plan Nord. Rather untastefully, they are re-doing it this year, under the slogan "rediscover the Forum on Natural Resources". The pillagers are gathering. Sponsored largely by mining (Osisko) and tar sands (Enbridge), the profiteers are preparing the assimilation of indigenous communities into their industrial framework, and into their large-scale destruction of the wild.
A number of Innu women rose up last year and marched more than 1000 kilometres from the Côte-Nord to Montréal, to say no! to this exploitation. The Innu have not been at rest since then: highway blockades, hunger strikes, obstructions of construction sites were frequent in 2012. Many other indigenous groups are supporting the Innu, and are themselves in resistance against this monstrous plan of territorial devastation!
Whether the money goes into the coffers of the Quebecois or Canadian state or to transnational corporations, the development of the north threatens us all as living beings. While environmentalists repeat that we must offer constructive alternatives – a greener future, for co-optation by 'sustainable' capital – we refuse any limits on our desire to sabotage what exists, without delay. We want to interrupt the colonizing and civilizing mission that has existed since the arrival of the first European colonizers, and which has accelerated ever since.
We act in solidarity with all communities resisting this development model that is imposed on them, in the North as in the South, and with the indigenous defenders in opposition, from the Innu of Nitassinan, to Cree dissidents, and those from all other nations. Alongside them, and in defense of the earth, we will be in the street to disrupt their forum on February 8th!
