Bonjour,

Statement of Support and Solidarity for Quebec's National day of Demonstration

Blockade the Budget, a student activist group from Auckland stand in Support and Solidarity with the Students of Quebec and their fight against their Governments neo-liberal attacks on education. We know from personal experience what those attacks are like with our fees regularly raised 4% each year for domestic students and 5% each year for international students. We now pay the 7th highest tertiary tuition in the world and our government still wants to push further with their neo-liberal agenda.

We have watched from afar in admiration and pride as the students stood strong in their demands for no fee increases and their widening list of social stances. We wear the red felt square as a symbol of solidarity not just with the students of Quebec, but with students the world over who are being drowned in debt by the neo-liberal model of education that is spreading around the world like a plague.

The example being set by CLASSE and the wider student movement is inspiration that this plague can be fought and we can reawaken the struggle for a barrier free, fully funded tertiary education system funded through progressive taxation, and move away from the corporatized education system we are forced to study in.

We stand in Solidarity and Support!

Hi Rushdia, I'm attaching some photos of a recent event we did over the weekend. Was during what's called courses and careers day, where high school students come to the university to see what they might want to study. Was pretty successful.
