Voici une invitation de la part de SOS McGill, qui travaille contre les récentes coupures à l'Université McGill. Ce collectif fait appel à notre solidarité pour une action qui aura lieu ce jeudi 5 décembre à midi à la bibliothèque de McGill.

Attached is an invitation on behalf of SOS McGill, who is taking part in a struggle against recent cuts at McGill University. This group requests our solidarity for an action that will be taking place this Thursday December 5th at noon at the McGill library.

SUPPORT OUR STAFF
Austerity means we all lose!

After cutting 2 libraries & 27 librarians, McGill is now planning to remove support staff from 14 departments.

In response, the campus community has consistently spoken against these cuts. Plus there is a lack of evidence presented to stakeholders to suggest the viability of relocating support staff, whether in terms of documented cost-savings, demonstrable efficiencies, or student, staff, and faculty satisfaction.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

1) Talk about it - Ask your student organization, faculty members, and support staff if they are concerned about the restructuring in our departments and libraries;

2) Participate - attend the Tuesday January 14 town hall we are organizing from 5:35 p.m. to 7:25 p.m. in Arts W-215, in order to promote awareness and build solidarity;

3) Share your concerns - Sign our open letter at the McGill Daily, email the Dean of Arts directly at christopher.manfredi@mcgill.ca.

More specifically, we need folks to:

1. Chalk/sign making at 11:30am;

2. Tweet photos/messages during the Art Action;

3. We need bodies for the Art Action at Noon;

4. We need folks on site to pass out 200 fliers (see below for flier text).

Please confirm your participation. And see you Thursday at 11:30am at the gathering point--just outside the Office for Students with Disabilities (Redpath Library Building, Suite RS56 on 3459 McTavish Street).

And please be on time (the action itself will only last 10mins) and do bring a friend!!
