Nous avons reçu une invitation par des militants et militantes des États-Unis pour participer à une fin de semaine de conférence sur la solidarité avec la Palestine qui se déroulera du 24 au 26 octobre 2014 à Medford, Massachusetts. Voici une petite description que l’on vous transmet ici:

 

I'm involved with planning some of the programming for our upcoming Students for Justice in Palestine National conference, which will be at Tufts University from October 24-26. The theme of our conference this year is Beyond Solidarity: Resisting Racism and Colonialism from the U.S. to Palestine. By this title, we intend to start moving past solidarity as it is traditionally practiced between groups (statements of support, cosponsoring events, etc.) into figuring our how our actions and campaigns can support, empower, and ultimately work to liberate all of our communities and movements.

 

To this end, we'd like to invite 1 or 2 members of ASSÉ to attend the conference and sponsor their travel, lodging and registration fees. We're structuring some of our workshops around common themes and issues faced by different communities--like the impact of militarism, forced migration and labor exploitation, or water rights. Our plan is to bring together 2-4 organizers from different movements to each workshop, and give each individual would have the chance to talk on their own movement and work, before moving into a more interactive program between the speakers from other movements and with the students. Our goal is to expose Palestine solidarity activists to  related movements across the country, and to  allow people from different movements to learn from  and talk with one another.

 

One of the other ongoing conversations within SJP right now, as I've mentioned to you before, is about the long-term structure and how to create effective structures for mobilization that also empower all the members of the organization. For that reason, I think it'd be really fantastic if any of y'all would be able to come down and participate in this conference!!

 

Par souci de rendre le processus de sélection des représentants, représentantes plus juste et transparent, nous avons décidé de faire un appel global sur ASSÉ-Support. Nous déciderons pas la suite en exécutif des personnes à envoyer en fonction des critères suivants:

•    Maîtrise de l’anglais

•    Connaissance des structures et positions de l’ASSÉ

•    Connaissance du conflit israélo-palestinien

•    Expérience en tournée

•    Favoriser les personnes n’ayant pas été en tournées à l’extérieur du Québec

 

Si vous avez des disponibilités pour ces dates et répondez à ces critères, merci de nous faire part de votre intérêt en répondant individuellement à ce courriel. Si vous pensez connaître des militants, militantes intéressé-e-s qui ne sont pas sur cette liste, veuillez leur passer le message.

 

Dans l'éventualité où plusieurs candidatures s'équivaudraient, nous choisirons au hasard parmi celles-ci.
