Hello All,
*****First I want to apologize that this isn't in french- if anyone felt
like translating (paraphrased) i'd be extremely grateful- the language
barrier is a challenge, but one we have to overcome
On Thursday the 31st Cianbro construction company will hold its first
public hearing on the East-West Highway, the controversial industrial
Corridor which *is necessary to facilitate the exploitation of Quebec*'s
(relatively) pristine northlands (and remove that land to market in Europe
and Asia)
This is about more than environmentalism or any single issue- this is a
perfect opportunity to oppose the entire neoliberal agenda- which seeks to
squeeze the last dollars out of the environment as well as it's
austerity-laden public
The project is insane for so many reasons, and if you contact me I am happy
to give examples, analyses and talking points
I'm writing today to ask that a big banner be made to connect our struggles
the imaginary borders we have drawn on our maps are not real- pollution has
no borders, and neither does greed- we must stand together or we will be
picked apart
If a big Banner of this issue can make the news on Tuesday night, then
Wednesday we (here in Maine) can talk the issue up and hopefully get way
more people
Then Thursday night (the Public Hearing) we will have our banner ready, and
Maine and Montreal can march together at 8pm
I feel weird putting this work and this issue on other folks far away- but
I feel like it's an amazing opportunity to build the kind of solidarity we
need to stop this shit
Along that line I also think we should organize a "Atlantica Bioregional
Alliance" (or whatever) to coordinate our struggles more often and mobilize
concerted resistance to industry's attempts to extract our lives
If you would be willing to work on a banner please join this event to work
out the message:

And if you support the idea of forming a bioregional network please join
this one:

be the platform for the network itself, but just to start organizing it)
