Subject: [ism-global] call for articles on Student Resistance!
To: international_students_movement(a)lists.riseup.net
The York University Free Press collective is seeking submissions for the
upcoming issue: STUDENTS, RISE UP!, covering, investigating and exploring
the Quebec Student Movement, and International Student Resistance. We want
to know what you've learned, what you think, and how we can spread the
fight across Ontario and across Canada and the world!
This past summer, we have witnessed a remarkable and inspiring resistance
to tuition increase, as the Quebec Student Movement has begun to spread
across Ontario and Canada. Mobilizing over 300,000 Quebec students, while
the majority of colleges and universities in Quebec participated in the
longest Student Strike the province has seen, the Student Movement is
beginning to spread to Ontario, as our own students are organizing,
learning and sharing stories from Quebec.
We accept all forms of expressions, such as news articles, photography,
how-to's, art, comments, personal stories, poetry, comics and much more!
Suggested word counts:
News: 50 to 750 words
Features: max. 2000 words
Comments: max. 1200 words
Arts and Culture: max. 1500 words
Submissions deadline is September 15th, 2012

HAPPY WRITING
~
The YU Free Press is an alternative newspaper produced by volunteer
graduate and undergraduate students at York University. Our principal
objectives are to challenge the mainstream corporate media model and to
provide a space for critical analysis and commentary of the news around us
– both on and off campus – to a community of students, faculty, and staff
alike. We are firmly opposed to oppression in all its possible forms
(gender, sexual orientation, race, disability, religion, class, etc.) and
are dedicated to upholding and promoting a clear vision of social justice
through the publication of labour, union, and activist-positive material.
