<http://www.solidarityacrossborders.org/fr/principles-for-a-regularization-p…>
!). Nous revendiquons l'ouverture des frontières et la libre circulation
<http://www.solidarityacrossborders.org/fr/community-alert-montreal-is-not-a…>,
<http://www.solidarityacrossborders.org/fr/undocumented-blind-woman-seeks-ac…>,

Join us for the annual Status For All demonstration, organized by
Solidarity Across Borders and friends. Since 2004, we have marched annually
in the streets of Montreal. This year, we will be marching in
Côte-des-Neiges, to demand an end to deportations, detentions and double
punishment, and to support a full, comprehensive and ongoing regularization
program
<http://www.solidarityacrossborders.org/en/principles-for-a-regularization-p…>
(ie. Status for All!). We support open borders and the free movement of
people seeking justice and dignity, meaning freedom to move, freedom to
return, and the freedom to stay.
This year, this demonstration takes on particular meaning as we march in
support of a Solidarity City. Recently, the Montreal City Council
misleadingly declared itself a Sanctuary City
<http://www.solidarityacrossborders.org/en/community-alert-montreal-is-not-a…>,
falsely giving the impression that Montreal no longer cooperates with the
Canadian Border Services Agency. In past months we have seen the increasing
normalization of the far right, attacks on migrants and the explicit
fortification of borders; in response, symbolic gestures like Montreal’s
deeply misleading “sanctuary city” announcement have done little to
challenge border violence.
In this context, the struggles of migrants and their allies have become
more critical than ever. In spite of tremendous obstacles people the world
over continue to exert their right to move, to stay, and to return,
traversing conditions ranging from deadly seas, scorching desert to
freezing snow in the search of safety, peace or opportunity. Thousands of
them live undocumented in Montreal and across the country, forced into
precarious and exploitative work, without access to healthcare
<http://www.solidarityacrossborders.org/en/undocumented-blind-woman-seeks-ac…>,
education <http://collectifeducation.org/>, or other essential services,
and under constant threat of deportation. These are our neighbors, our
friends and family. Join us in lending our voices to these struggles --
struggles of daily resilience, of quiet resistance, of perseverance. Let's
come together to make Montreal a true Solidarity and Sanctuary City, from
the ground up. Let Montreal’s streets ring as we chant “Status for all!
Open the borders!"

Bonjour camarades,
4.5. Comité antiraciste
4.6. Comité d'information
4.7. Comité de formation
4.8. Comité légal
4.9. Comité à la mobilisation
4.10. Comité du journal
4.11. Comité aux luttes sociales
4.12. Conseil des régions
4.13. Front régional de l'ASSÉ à Québec
4.14. Conseil régional de l'ASSÉ à Montréal
5.0. Prochaine réunion
6.0. Wrap-up
7.0. Procédures de clôture
7.1. Varia
7.2 Levée
marginalisées, telle qu’être parent étudiant;
espaces;
les dominé-e-s, mais généralement pas pour les dominants;
Considérant que ce travail est un travail politique;
Solidairement,
Claudia Cachay-Osorio

****CONCORDIA TO DECIDE ON DIVESTMENT****
On Tuesday, May 30th, the Concordia University Foundation’s decision
regarding the divestment of their $154.3 million dollar endowment fund from
the fossil fuel industry will finally be announced. This decision could be
a historic opportunity for the university. Divest Concordia will be closely
watching and reacting to the coming developments, and we invite our
community to join us!
For more info, read our full statement below.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Tuesday, Concordia University has a chance to take a clear stance on
some of the most pressing issues facing our generation; climate change and
fossil fuel extraction.
Currently, the $154.3 million endowment fund includes approximately $10
million invested in the fossil fuel industry, and our university will be
deciding whether or not to maintain their support for an industry that
perpetuates colonialism, violates human rights, and pollutes our water,
land, and air.
This decision could be a historic move not only for the university, but
also for the divestment movement in Canada, which is watching to see
whether Concordia will follow the leadership shown by Laval University by
finally committing to full divestment from fossil fuels.
This announcement will follow four years of tireless pressure and
commitment from multiple student groups and allies at Concordia, where a
referenda produced an overwhelming vote of support for divestment, with 83%
of students voting in favour.
Over 2 years ago, Concordia’s administration took a step in the right
direction by creating a $5 million fund that screens out fossil fuel
investments, making Concordia the first university in Canada to begin the
divestment process. An administrative committee, with a permanent seat for
Divest Concordia, was struck to consider next steps, and it is their
decision that will be announced next week.
Despite the strong and clear moral case for divestment, university
administrators have consistently cited fiduciary responsibility as the
primary barrier. Yet, the university’s $5 million fossil-free fund has
consistently outperformed the rest of the foundation’s investments since
inception. In fact, if the entire endowment had been divested 2 years ago,
the university would have made a larger return on investment!
We can not afford to continue investing in the destruction of our homes and
our livelihoods. If Concordia wants to be a true leader in society, it is
clear that it must divest from fossil fuels, and invest in our futures
instead.
Stay tuned for updates as we move into this next phase of our campaign!
*In solidarity,*

*#DignityStrike : Montréal Solidarity Protest with the Palestinian
Prisoner Hunger Strike

we will do our very best to assist and respond./
Since April 17th, over 1,500 Palestinian prisoners have undertaken a
historic hunger strike within Israeli apartheid prisons- the largest in
five years. As the strike enters its fifth week, join us for a
demonstration on the streets in Montréal to express our solidarity and
support.
Palestinian prisoners have been on strike to demand an end to solitary
confinement, heavy restrictions on family visits, medical neglect, and
administrative detention – prolonged imprisonment without charge or
trial. The strike has been met with considerable repression, including
frequent raids, the denial of family and legal visits, the confiscation
of blankets and personal belongings, the transfer of prisoners, and the
moving of strike leaders into solitary confinement. Israel has refused
to negotiate with or discuss the demands of the hunger strikers,
referring to the prisoners as terrorists and calling the strike a media
ploy.
According to a report on the Electronic Intifada “the Israel Prison
Service is attempting to demoralize its participants and their
supporters. Israeli media report that the government is considering
bringing in foreign doctors to potentially force feed hunger strikers.”
Tadamon! is calling on people to take the streets in Montréal to express
their solidarity with Palestinian prisoners, but also to highlight the
complicity of multinational corporations like Hewlett Packard (HP),
which continues to maintain the servers and other IT infrastructure of
the Israeli prison service. We demand that HP end its contracts with
Israeli prisons and detention centres, as part of a growing
international campaign against HP over its support for Israeli apartheid.
This demonstration also takes place as Québec Premier Phillippe
Couillard is visiting Israel from May 19-25 to strengthen economic ties.
In addition, the Canadian Liberal government continues to provide
unconditional support to the Israeli apartheid state. Importantly, the
Liberal government continues to criminalize the Boycott, Divestment &
Sanctions (BDS) movement launched by Palestinian organizations to build
a global mechanism for groups and organizations to express their
concrete solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for freedom.
