Chèr-e-s camarades,
Solidairement,
Le conseil exécutif

Dear Comrades,
Some people have shared their questions with us with regard to a proposal
which was adopted by the Executive Council in our meeting of October 19.
Indeed, we then decided to transfer all the money from the strike fund and
the legal fund into the current account, and to repay these amounts as soon
as our finances allowed us to do so.
We understand that reading this proposal may cause anger and
incomprehension, but, as we explained at the last congress, we are still
waiting on a number of our member associations to forward their membership
contributions and, given the annual changes in authorized signatories as
well as the delays with the institutions in supplying the associations with
their membership fees. Moreover, the beginning of the fall semester remains
a difficult period of time from a financial point of view, considering that
we have just spent several months paying our permanent employees and the
rent for our office without having received any money from the member
associations. That being said, the emergency measure adopted on October 19
was only temporary, chiefly in order to be able to pay our permanent
employee, and the funds will be transferred back to the original accounts
within a few days, the time it takes to cash in the contribution cheques we
have just received.
If you have any inquiries about ASSÉ’s finances, we invite you to contact
our permanent staff or write us an email. You can also discuss this with
the member of the Executive Council responsible for ensuring follow-ups
with your association. We will be pleased to answer any questions you may
have on this matter.
In solidarity,
The Executive Council
